PRESENTING PLASTIC FOR A PURPOSE

STEM  2 Project

Hello, my name is Lydia Lytle. I am a STEM 2 student at Bishop McGuinness in Oklahoma City. For my STEM project, I want to build a small scale recycling center within my high school. I plan to collect the school's plastic waste and build a shredder, extruder and injection machines to re-purpose plastics into new 3D printer filament and plastic silverware for the school.  I also intend to make combs and water bottles for the homeless. I hope this project will benefit not only the McGuinness community but also the homeless population of Oklahoma City.

WHY THIS PROJECT?

I have always been environmentally conscious, from driving an electric car to conserving water and power. I also make sure to recycle any plastic waste I can.  Now with my project, I will know with 100% certainly that my plastic waste is being re-purposed for a good cause.

I will be using the platform Precious Plastic as a guide for my project. Here is an informational video about their mission and machines.
